Today I opened up all of the survey results in a spreadsheet and went through and analyzed the results. It took me quite a while as I had over 170 responses and therefore needed to make sure the results that I talked about were representative of all of the results. I used the premade Google Forms graphs for the quantitative answers and listed the main points from the qualitative questions. Now I need to analyze three clips from Edgar Wright movies to talk about in my video essay.
Inform our own idea...
The people who watch all of these shows I have looked at are all different age groups. Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway is one of the shows with the broadest range of people watching, the reason this show is like this because of Ant & Dec and also the show has a big range of content.
The findings suggest that if we go with the Saturday evening, ITV, 7 pm as this is one of the most popular times for viewing TV as a family. At this time people will put the TV on and just watch whatever show is on. For the group, this shows us that we need to make sure that our show doesn't collide with a popular show as everyone would just watch the show. If we did have to show our show at the same time as a popular show we would have to make sure we were appealing to a different target audience.
Based on our idea we now need to research our target audience to find out what they would want from a show, we need to think of ways we can make our show different from others. We need to research what the shows we want to borrow ideas from do and how they are really successful.

Pitch

I think this pitch went fairly well, however, there were a couple things we could have improved on. Firstly, with this pitch, we didn't get a chance to practice together which meant in some places we stumbled. The other thing was that the printer wasn't working so we couldn't have notes in front of us which meant we looked at the board a lot. The class seemed to like our idea and we had a lot of positive feedback. An improvement we could make would be to get the audience to pick lines of speech of the girl at the date, I think this could be quite tricky to implement so I'm not sure if we would be able to do this. I think because I hadn't practised as much with this pitch it meant I stumbled a lot more and I think I spoke very quickly, this has shown me with the next pitch I need to think about what I'm gonna say with a lot more detail. They also said they felt like they knew the character well and that the character was portrayed as more clumsy than awkward, so, in our script, we will need to have a lot of awkward speech which will portray the character as awkward too. We now just need to think about our idea to decide whether each ending will be the same or if they will be slightly different.

Today, we sat down as a group and made the script for our interactive short film, this took quite a while as it is interactive as this meant there are lots of different parts to the script. We then got the first script marked by another director who gave us some advice. I think the script is written a lot better now. After this, we started working on the production paperwork. I started working on the first location release form and the risk assessment for that.

Today, I read through the script and worked my head around the flow chart, I made it on powerpoint, it took quite a while as it was fairly complex. After this, I made call sheets for each day which I will need to finish off over the weekend when the shot list is completed. I also need to make a sound plan and a lighting plan which I will do this weekend.
