Today I opened up all of the survey results in a spreadsheet and went through and analyzed the results. It took me quite a while as I had over 170 responses and therefore needed to make sure the results that I talked about were representative of all of the results. I used the premade Google Forms graphs for the quantitative answers and listed the main points from the qualitative questions. Now I need to analyze three clips from Edgar Wright movies to talk about in my video essay.

The people who watch all of these shows I have looked at are all different age groups. Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway is one of the shows with the broadest range of people watching, the reason this show is like this because of Ant & Dec and also the show has a big range of content.
The findings suggest that if we go with the Saturday evening, ITV, 7 pm as this is one of the most popular times for viewing TV as a family. At this time people will put the TV on and just watch whatever show is on. For the group, this shows us that we need to make sure that our show doesn't collide with a popular show as everyone would just watch the show. If we did have to show our show at the same time as a popular show we would have to make sure we were appealing to a different target audience.
Based on our idea we now need to research our target audience to find out what they would want from a show, we need to think of ways we can make our show different from others. We need to research what the shows we want to borrow ideas from do and how they are really successful. ​

Today we had a practical lesson with the technician this morning. After that, I designed the slides for my pitch, which you can see below. I am happy with the slides, I think they are quite concise and to the point, there isn't too much writing which could bore people. There is a lot of pictures which have data on which the class can look at while I am expanding in more detail. When I get home from college I will rehearse my pitch which will mean tomorrow I won't have pauses where I think about what I might say. I want the class to be involved at the end as much as possible.

Pitch Evaluation - Diary 17.01.2019
I was happy with my pitch this time. You can tell I was nervous as my tutor stopped me and told me to slow down, I didn't even realize that I was going so quickly. I only had managed to rehearse once for this pitch, maybe if I had rehearsed more maybe this wouldn't have happened. I was happy with this pitch as there was lots of discussion at the end. There weren't any comments about my subject of choice being too wide which means my research would have been fairly direct towards my question. I think I could have probably added fewer stats to my pitch and more opinions which would have added to the discussion. I am glad that I didn't add a video because I don't think this would have added much value to the pitch and maybe would have turned viewers away.

After completing my research portfolio I have uploaded my bibliography and have now begun creating my project proposal for this project. It outlines where my idea came from, what I am doing for my video essay; how long it will be, what content it will include etc. Also, how we will evaluate our project. At the bottom is a project table where we outline what we will be doing each week. Tomorrow I will be completing my script for this project, this will involve a draft script which I will get another member of the class and possibly a tutor to review and check to see what improvements they would make. I will also possibly record a run through on my phone just to see how much time each section uses up.

Today I had my 1-1 with my tutor to look at my proposal. The only thing I needed to change was to add a little bit about how the final evaluation would be used. After that, I began creating my script. As I went along I was finding the relating images that I would need for this project. Tomorrow I will finish the script and get it to peer assessed to see how I would be able to improve it.

This morning we had a practical with the technician then I completed the Budget Breakdown and the Equipment list. This didn't take very long as I had done these many times before so it was a simple case of filling in the information with a little bit of research for the equipment prices.

This morning we watched a pitch from another member of the class. After this, I sat with Chloe and we completed the final draft of my script, Chloe helped me re-word sentences so that they would sound a lot better when read to the camera. After this, I completed the treatment sheet, which was fairly straight forward but it was the first one I have ever done. All I need to do now is complete the shot list which I will do at home this weekend.
